Biographical Information
Sallie May Glick attended Purdue University from 1876-1879. She was one of the earliest women students at the university and took a botany course under Professor Sarah Oren, Purdue's first female faculty member. Her family was related to John Purdue and the McCutcheons.
Sallie May Glick was born in 1860 in Romney, Indiana. She was the daughter of Dr. Elias B. Glick, who served as mayor of Lafayette for two terms in the late 1800s, and Henrietta Oyler (or Oiler). She is one of three children: Benjamin, Sallie (or Sarah), and Clara (or Callie). Sallie Glick married John Prosser, a nephew of John Purdue, and they had three children together. Sallie and John lived in Devil's Lake, North Dakota. She died on April 28, 1937 in Sarasota, Florida.
