Leopold, A. Carl (Aldo Carl), 1919-2009

Biographical Information

Aldo Carl Leopold was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. His father, Aldo Leopold, was a noted environmentalist and conservationist. Leopold attended the University of Wisconsin, served in the Marine Corps, and completed graduate studies at Harvard University, developing research focused on soybeans. He then became a professor at Purdue University where he remained for 25 years. After leaving Purdue, he moved to the University of Nebraska, where he was an administrator, and later to Cornell University. Leopold retired in 1990 as Emeritus W.H. Crocker Scientist at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell.
