Biography

Norman Stanley Currey was born on June 15, 1926 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. Norman attended de Havilland Aeronautical Technical School earning an engineering degree in 1948 and worked as a stressman on the DH 106 Comet. In 1949, Norman worked for Arvo Canada as a design engineer and later moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work as a design engineer for Lockheed. While at Lockheed, he worked on the C-130, JetStar, and C-5 aircraft. Norman authored and published numerous technical reports and several books including "Aircraft Landing Gear Design: Principles and Practices" and "Airplane Stories and Histories." Norman was a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He retired in 1989 and passed away on March 1, 2024.
